Due to the coronavirus pandemic, NXT Takeover: Tampa Bay will not be happening as originally planned. As a result, this has led to many fans wondering what WWE is going to do about the matches and storylines that NXT has been building towards for the past several weeks.
A new report from Sports Illustrated has provided us with the answer.
According to the report, WWE will be doing the matches that were previously scheduled for Takeover: Tampa Bay on weekly episodes of NXT. This will start on April 1st.
Here is an excerpt from Sports Illustrated’s report:
A number of the matches previously scheduled for NXT TakeOver: Tampa Bay are now set to air in the month of April on the USA Network, Sports Illustrated has learned.
Beginning Wednesday, April 1, NXT will add some additional excitement to its weekly TV programming by airing the matches planned for TakeOver on a weekly basis. Paul “Triple H” Levesque is expected to be on this week’s edition of NXT as part of the announcement.
My Take:
- This sucks but makes sense. It would be hard for WWE to stretch out storylines for two months until the next Takeover. They might as well give fans some great matches on a weekly basis.
