You might have heard the rumor by now about the Undertaker potentially wrestling at Summerslam. If that happens, we assume that he will also have a match at Wrestlemania 35. We have decided to put together a list of potential opponents for the Deadman at Summerslam 2018 and/or Wrestlemania 35.
9) The Undertaker vs Baron Corbin
The Undertaker has been around for a long time and I think it is fair to say that he probably has the ability to pick and choose his opponents. I don’t think it is crazy to think that the Deadman could choose to face Baron Corbin at some point.
These two have a little bit of history together. The Undertaker eliminated Corbin from the 2017 Royal Rumble match. Corbin and the Undertaker were also on opposite sides against one another in the recent 6-man tag team match at Madison Square Garden.
In an interview with Sporting News, Corbin says that the Undertaker has always given him advice and says that they get along really well:
“I’ve been really fortunate in that I got to spend some time with him when I was in NXT. He helped me a little bit on my entrance and the way I move. It seems like he gravitates towards me because we kind of have that same mentality, we both walk on the edge of things. We both love boxing and MMA and we kind of style ourselves after that. We throw really nice punches and they do a lot of damage. I think he saw that when I was in NXT, a little bit of himself in me and the style I have, a big guy who can really move. So every time he’s around, I always make sure to spend 15, 20 minutes talking to him about wrestling and my career. I always try to go as long as I can just about life and what’s going on at home for both of us whether it’s motorcycles or getting tattooed or who knows. I always try to soak up as much as I can from him when I’m around him.”
Maybe the Deadman puts over Corbin before he hangs up the boots?
8) The Undertaker vs Jeff Hardy
Who else remembers the awesome ladder match between Jeff Hardy and the Undertaker on RAW back in 2002? As a big Jeff Hardy fan growing up, this remains as one of my favorite matches of all time. They are both much older now but could be fun to see them face off again.
Jeff has been vocal in interviews that he would love to face the Undertaker in a Hell in a Cell match before he hangs up the boots. Jeff even has some crazy spots and a finish planned. Here is a quote from Jeff in LA Weekly from a few years back:
“Man, I want to Swanton off the top of the cell, onto the commentary table. Then, I want to climb the cell, cut the f–king cage, when Taker’s back in the ring, and Swanton though the cage, miss, and then Tombstone 1-2-3.”
Okay, maybe we shouldn’t do that match because Jeff might die.
7) The Undertaker vs Daniel Bryan
There were some rumors several years ago that suggested the Undertaker requested to work with Daniel Bryan at Wrestlemania. Obviously, this never came to fruition but that doesn’t mean it still can’t.
The latest rumor suggests that the Undertaker has been presented with a match and storyline for Summerslam. The rumors also say the idea was something that the Undertaker has pushed for in the past. Maybe the match that Undertaker pushed for in the past was against Daniel Bryan?
Could be fun. There seems to be a fairly easy storyline to write based on Bryan’s partnership with the Undertaker’s brother, Kane. I am not sure if WWE would go this route but it seems like an option.
