With the big news coming yesterday about the Undertakers opponent being someone who isn’t currently on WWE’s roster, speculation has been wild. Plenty of names have come up about in speculation surround the Deadman’s opponent for WrestleMania 32.
The name that has been coming up most often so far is Sting. Fans have expressed in an interest in seeing this match featuring two icons facing off. The true WWE vs WCW match of company staples. Fan are also saying they wanted this match about 10 years ago and have no interest in it right now due to both of their ages. Last time we saw Sting was in a match against Seth Rollins at Night of Champions where he was injured. I am not sure if Sting will be able to compete at WrestleMania so this leaves a bit of a question mark on him.
The next name on the list is the Rock. He is already going to be attending WrestleMania so why not him? Rumors are that the Rock isn’t cleared by the insurance company of his next movie to wrestle, so this could put a nix on that. We will wait and see though if this is the case, he seems like the logical option. I think fans wouldn’t mind a Rock vs ‘Taker match.
Goldberg has came up a lot! I think he is a legit option. He has recently wrestled at some independent shows. Goldberg vs Taker would be interesting. I am sure if the WWE offered a good amount of money he would consider it!
Another name coming up a lot is Kurt Angle. I will be the first one to say that I would absolutely LOVE to see Kurt Angle back in the WWE one last time. Kurt is officially done with TNA so it could happen. I am not sure if he would get medically cleared by the WWE after the wear and tear on his body. Kurt Angle vs Undertaker would have me invested for sure!
Stone Cold has been mentioned quite a few times. I think this is very unlikely as he has said a number of times that he is done for good. It is fun to imagine hearing the glass shatter at WrestleMania in Texas……
Another possibility is Shawn Michaels coming out of retirement. WrestleMania is in his home state of Texas and the WWE already wants him to be involved in the event. He has said he is happy in retirement though, so it remains unlikely it will be him, similar to Austin.
Other names I have heard: Batista, Shinsuke Nakamura, Jeff Hardy, Vince Mcmahon himself.
Regardless it is fun to speculate. Who do you think it should be??? Leave us a comment!
Angle is the best option and I am sure for a one night only match it would put many asses in seats. Michaels would be lame, as would Rock. Cena is still sadly, likely. Sting should only do it if he wins, so probably not Wrestlemania. I want Taker to suffer no more loses at Mania.
