The 2016 WWE Draft marked the official split of RAW and Smackdown into separate brands. As a result, we saw several NXT stars get drafted to either RAW or Smackdown Live to help fill out the rosters. Finn Balor, American Alpha, Nia Jax, Alexa Bliss, Mojo Rawley and Carmella were the names that got called up.
It turns out that we could have seen another female talent get called up to the main roster but Triple H asked for it not to happen.
Triple H was recently interviewed by Josh Barnett of ‘For The Win‘. During the interview, he revealed what his one request was to Vince McMahon prior to the draft.
That request was for Vince not to take Asuka away from NXT:
“I would never want to limit someone’s growth or their opportunities, but when Vince brought it up to me, I said the one person who we can’t afford to lose is Asuka. You could take everybody else you want to take – and trust me, he did – but I need her as an anchor. If I lose her and everybody else, I’m doomed.”
Triple H also says he knew Asuka was going to ‘change the game’ when they signed her:
“When we signed her, it made everybody already inside look at who we were bringing in and they were seeing what I was seeing – this girl is going to change the game,”
A pretty cool behind the scenes look into the WWE Draft. Also shows you how much Triple H values her as a talent.

Vince will definitely bury Asuka already if she moves to main roster last year but now she’s untouchable to the point cannot get ruined in main roster.
