Triple H was recently interviewed by Inside The Ropes. This was during the opening of the new WWE Performance Center in the UK.
Triple H was asked about wrestlers with a lot of experience being sent to NXT. Ricochet was a name that was specifically mentioned.
Here is what Triple H had to say (h/t to Ringside News for the quotes below):
“You say why is Ricochet there? Because Ricochet is a great in-ring performer that was, the same thing he was petrified to put a microphone in his hand and have to talk with it. If I said to him look at the jib camera he’d be like, ‘What’s a jib camera?’
That’s a process. It’s a process that everybody has to go through to make them something more. It’s not always about, ‘Oh we need to make you a better wrestler.’ Right?
Some people say, ‘Performance Center? Why does he need it? He’s been in the business for fifteen years.’ I had another performer tell me the same thing we worked with him for a very short time. He debuted in NXT and he came back to me and said, ‘Dude, I just did a one-minute entrance. I’ve been in the business for fifteen years on a show that was carried nationally on a high level and I’m more over after a minute and thirty-second entrance than I have been in my entire career, holy cow.’
That’s what that is. The ones who are going to be willing to be open to that, growth is painful and the ones who are willing to do that and take things to another level. I’ve been in the business thirty years and I feel like I learn something new every day.”
On a related note, Triple H recently spoke about if NXT UK call-ups will be going to NXT or the main roster. You can read his comments here.
