3.) Nothing to Gain
Let’s think about this: what would be the purpose of either of these guys going over? What happens if AJ goes over? Does Shane leave as commissioner, does AJ get a WWE title shot against Orton or Wyatt? What happens if Shane goes over?
The only thing I can think of is that Shane/ WWE Creative would get some heat as it is the “New Era” in the WWE. Both of these men have nothing to gain from having a match with each other, and that is sad to say and I mean no disrespect to either men.
In the grand scheme of things, it seems like this is mostly a filler match and because AJ Styles is on a really good run in the company right now. If Shane goes over, it has the possibility of squashing AJ’s run. If AJ goes over, then there’s really nothing achievable from this.
It seems like a lose-lose situation. If Shane wins, he is defeating one of the best wrestler’s on the roster. If AJ wins, he is beating a 47 year old Shane, that he should be beating anyways.
As a whole, even with a stipulation added to this match, there is truly nothing to gain from this match for either of them.
