If you have been following TJ Perkins so far in his WWE career, you would know that a large part of his past is based on overcoming homelessness. The current WWE Cruiserweight Champion had been evicted from numerous places and even homeless before making it as a professional wrestler. His story is supposed to be inspiring but according to reports, it could be gaining him some backstage heat.
According to Dave Meltzer on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio (subscription required but recommended), some WWE stars are not happy with Perkins talking about his past. The reason is that many independent wrestlers (and some current WWE roster members) have come from similar positions and hadn’t boasted about it. Some guys feel like that comes with the territory of being a pro wrestler and it shouldn’t be boasted about.
In a recent interview with ForTheWin.com. Perkins talked about his background:
“I’m not a terribly sentimental guy, but I kept a lot of old stuff from that time in my life. I have my food stamps card from when I was homeless. I also have the key to the first place where I got evicted from. There were many places where I got evicted from, but I still had that first key. It was a simple reminder for years of the places I couldn’t go back to. The further away it’s gotten, the more motivating it became to me because I didn’t have to go back there. I didn’t really think about it until I was in the ring after the match. That was the first thing in my mind: I don’t have to stay at that key” (Source: FTW).

An odd thing to be upset about but pro-wrestling is a strange business some times.
maybe they should have thought of it first.
