According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscribe here), WWE has quietly released a couple of developmental Superstars. Here are some more details.
– Meltzer says that Gabriel Ealy was released from his contract. Gabriel appeared on multiple episodes of NXT over the past few years. He mostly teamed with his brother Uriel as ‘The Ealy Brothers’. Uriel was released from his contract several months ago.
– Meltzer says that Tian Bing was also released. WWE promoted him as their first mainland Chinese developmental talent. He appeared on a few episodes of NXT. He also competed in the André the Giant Memorial battle royal at WrestleMania 33. He eliminated Tyler Breeze and Fandango from the battle royal but was eventually eliminated by Dolph Ziggler.
– Meltzer says that WWE also released Jason Cheng. He worked mostly live event matches with the odd appearance on NXT over the years.
The biggest surprise is Tian Bing. It seemed as if WWE had some big plans for him based on his participation at Wrestlemania 33. Pretty surprised that he is one of the names being let go.
We will let you know if we find out more on why any of them were released by the company.
