It has been an interesting year for Impact Wrestling (to say the least). We saw them re-brand to Global Force Wrestling before re-branding back to Impact Wrestling. They also were involved in a dispute with Matt Hardy over ownership of the ‘Broken’ gimmick. The company has also recently relocated to Canada.
Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscribe here), sheds some light on the contract situation involving 3 top Impact Wrestling stars.
According to Meltzer, the contracts of Bobby Lashley, Ethan Carter III and Eddie Edwards are close to expiring.
Impact will reportedly only be offering “new per-day” contracts moving forward. Lashley, Carter and Edwards are all signed to guaranteed contracts and Meltzer says that there is a good chance that they will all leave after their deals expires.
Meltzer says that WWE and Ring of Honor have interest in signing Edwards. If he did sign with WWE, it would be for NXT. WWE passed on Edwards a few years ago but a lot of things have changed.
It is unclear what the plans will be for Lashley and Carter. Lashley could continue to fight for Bellator if he wanted but we will have to wait and see.
