On Smackdown Live this week, Vince McMahon removed Kofi Kingston from his WWE Championship match at Fastlane. Vince replaced Kofi with Kevin Owens.
This is pretty similar to what Vince recently did to Becky Lynch on RAW. Vince replaced her at Wrestlemania 35 with Charlotte Flair.
I wanted to pass along a theory about what WWE could be planning here with Vince.
What do both of these decisions by Vince have in common? They both are going against what fans want to see happen. I don’t think that this is a coincidence and I think that this could be leading to something bigger.
How about WWE doing a long-term storyline where Vince clashes with Triple H and Stephanie McMahon over his decisions? Triple H and Stephanie want to do what is best for the fans, while Vince wants to continue to do what is best for him.
This could be a fun dynamic since fans already think that there are issues between Triple H and Vince. You always see on social media that fans can’t wait until Triple H takes over. Or fans saying that Triple H must be furious at Vince for the treatment of his NXT call-ups. This would be a way to work that into a long-term storyline on television.
The end goal would potentially be for Triple H and Stephanie to take control of WWE from Vince (in kayfabe). They could stretch this out for a year and have Superstars take the sides of Vince and Triple H/ Stephanie. I think that something like this could really spice things up.
How would you feel about a lengthy storyline between Vince and Triple H/ Stephanie? Let us know in the comment section below.
