The Usos were recently guests on Edge & Christian’s Pod of Awesomeness. During the podcast they spoke on a wide variety of topics about their careers.
One of these topics had to do with their heel turn. The Usos dropped the face paint, the bright colors and their entrance from the previous gimmick and have become an all-new version of the the Usos. According to the them, their heel turn could have been much different if Vince McMahon got what he originally wanted.
According to the twins on the podcast, Vince wanted them to keep their face paint when they turned heel:
“We fought to keep the paint off our face too. A big deal was the paint. That’s another thing they wanted us to stay in the paint and we felt like with this heel switch, you’re not going to take us serious still with paint on our face”
They continued, saying that they really had to fight for it because Vince liked the face paint so much:
“That was a real big deal… We had to fight for that, we had to fight for a couple of weeks for that. Vince wants you guys to do paint and we were like: we can’t act fully if we’re stuck with this paint on us”
Safe to say they made the right call as the Usos have rejuvenated their careers. Imagine they were trying to be heels with the bright paint on their faces?
