One of the big stories in the world of pro-wrestling right now is WWE officially releasing Neville. Many fans are excited about his future and some of the potential matches that he could have around the Globe.
Dave Meltzer provided an update about Neville in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscribe here).
Meltzer confirms that Neville has been released and that he is not under a non-compete clause. Released WWE stars usually can’t wrestle elsewhere for 90 days after leaving the company due to a clause in their contracts.
The reason why WWE didn’t release him when he first requested it (back in 2017), was because WWE didn’t want to set a precedent where talent under contract could walk out and jump to New Japan Pro Wrestling. Meltzer says that Neville was expected to be heading to New Japan when he first asked for his release last year.
Neville’s contract was frozen for 10 months and it is unclear how the two sides worked out his release. The reason why Neville wanted out originally was that he was unhappy with his creative.
It should be interesting to see where Neville pops up. Some fans are speculating that he could be at the ‘All-In’ event this weekend but that is just speculation at the moment.
