The Rumored Reason Why The Miz vs Daniel Bryan Was So Short

One of the biggest surprises at WWE Super Show-Down was the match between the Miz and Daniel Bryan. The match only lasted a few minutes, with Bryan picking up the victory to become the number one contender for the WWE Championship.

The match left many fans scratching their heads afterward. Why would WWE only have this match go for two minutes?

Dave Meltzer provided an update on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio (subscribe here). He says that the match wasn’t cut short due to an injury. It also wasn’t cut short to give more time to the main event between Triple H and the Undertaker. These were popular theories among fans after the event took place.

The idea was apparently to set up some comedy while still keeping the Miz in the World Title hunt. Here is a quote (via Ringside News):

“This was booked to be like that because the whole idea is that they wanted to come out and do this 2-minute man thing with The Miz. So there was a reason for doing it this way, whether it’s good or bad you know the match itself wasn’t what a lot of people hoped it would be but it was comedy coming out that they were doing.”

“The idea was to set up comedy for the show and also to beat Miz in a way so Miz can still be in the championship picture after this. So that was part of it too.”
