The Rumored Reason Why The Ascension Was Released By WWE

Luke Harper, Sin Cara, and both members of The Ascension (Konnor & Viktor) were released by WWE on Sunday night. Before this, Harper and Sin Cara had both publicly asked for their releases from the company.

We have a rumor to pass your way about why The Ascension was released by WWE.

According to journalist Tom Colohue, The Ascension had been in conversations with WWE about leaving but remained extremely professional with how they went about it. As a result, WWE decided to release them.

Here is what he said:

“They [Konnor and Viktor] have been in conversations [with WWE]. They did want to go but they didn’t kick up a fuss about it. They just quietly went about their business. WWE have decided to essentially honour that on that basis. They like how they’ve gone about it, so nothing is planned in storyline.

The WWE believe they simply have better options already, so The Ascension will be moving on.”

My Take: I wish them the best in the next step of their careers. They were great in NXT and it is a shame that it never translated to the main roster. I am sure that they can find success elsewhere if they tweak their gimmick a bit.
