WWE ran a live event in Boston on Sunday night. The show featured stars from both RAW and Smackdown Live. It turns out that the show was actually taped by WWE.
So why is WWE taping a live event (also referred to as a house show)?
According to a report from Mike Johnson of PWInsider, WWE is testing out a smaller, modified production crew. This crew who won’t be using WWE’s usual production trucks for events
The indication seems to be that WWE is testing out ideas for the rumored $15 tier of the WWE Network. Taped version of live events is an idea that WWE has asked fans about in the past.
Johnson says that the upcoming Starrcade event in Cincinnati, Ohio will also be filmed by WWE with a similar production crew.
