We have some news to pass your way about the new commentary teams in WWE. This information comes via Dave Meltzer on the Sunday Night’s Main Event podcast.
According to Meltzer, Paul Heyman requested Vic Joseph and Dio Maddin for his RAW team. Heyman liked the work of Joseph on 205 Live. Heyman also really liked Maddin’s personality, which is why he got the job with so little experience.
The feeling is that Jerry Lawler will be a short-term addition to the RAW team and will be replaced by someone new down the road. Vince McMahon wanted someone with more experience, which is why Lawler was added.
As for Michael Cole, he was reportedly moved to Smackdown because it is going to be the new “A-Show” for the company. WWE is going to be putting some major attention towards the blue brand and Vince McMahon wanted his top guy to call the show.
