News broke on Saturday night that Trish Stratus will be facing off against Alexa Bliss at WWE’s upcoming Evolution event. Trish vs Alexa is the first match that has been officially confirmed for the event. There will also be the finals of the Mae Young Classic (spoilers here) and all of the Women’s Titles will be on the line.
Ronda Rousey’s potential match at the event is now making the rounds.
On the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio (subscribe here), Dave Meltzer provided the current plans for the main event of Evolution.
Meltzer says that Ronda Rousey vs Nikki Bella is the current plan for the main event of Evolution.
The idea behind it being that Ronda and Nikki are the two most mainstream names that WWE has at the moment. Ronda for obvious reasons and Nikki with everything that she has done through reality television and her high-profile relationship with John Cena. The goal would be to get the most mainstream attention as possible for the match and event. Meltzer adds that there were a few other ideas pitched but this was the plan as of earlier in the week.
Nikki Bella hasn’t wrestled too much this year. She made it to the final two of the Women’s Royal Rumble match several months ago. She also wrestled in a mixed tag team match alongside John Cena against Elias and Sonya Deville at a live event prior to Wrestlemania 34.
