Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful has provided some interesting news on CM Punk. This comes after Punk shocked the wrestling world and appeared on WWE Backstage a few days ago.
Sapp spoke to several employees in WWE to get their thoughts on Punk rejoining WWE programming. One wrestler stated that it would be a mistake if WWE didn’t do something with Punk on Survivor Series weekend:
A longtime WWE name told Fightful that they’ve known Punk for a long time, and have heard plenty about him burning bridges, but they personally never had issues with him. They stated that if WWE doesn’t find a way to do something with Punk during their four day stretch of shows in Chicago for Survivor Series that they’ve “royally fucked up.”
There seem to be some mixed reactions to the Punk news backstage. One person Sapp spoke to was happy and another wasn’t thrilled to have him back:
Another top star indicated that they’d love to work with CM Punk, whether it be in the ring, doing promos, or otherwise, but wasn’t sure the extent of the new gig. They specified that “someone like that, you can have a great story with, and where there’s a great story, the fans are happy and there’s (money), so I’m happy.”
A high level member of the WWE roster was pretty succinct when we reached out to them, saying “I have zero time for that guy. So no thoughts, no.”
Sapp also mentioned that everybody he talked to said they think Punk will wrestle again.
