Taz Has An Interesting (Crazy?) Idea For NXT, RAW & Smackdown In The WWE Brand Split

You might remember Taz from his time in ECW, WWE and TNA. During the original WWE brand split in 2002, he served as a commentator for the Smackdown brand alongside Michael Cole. With news of a new Brand Split coming in 2016, Taz has some ideas of his own. Taz suggests in a recent interview with Sports Illustrated that NXT should serve as the lead in program for RAW when the brand split happens. This would eliminate the 3 hours of RAW and keep both RAW and Smackdown at 2 hours competing against each other.

Here is what he said:

“I think they’ll do NXT from 8pm-9pm on the USA Network, which is a perfect lead-in to Raw. Raw at three hours is too long–it’s tough for creative, tough for the announcers and a three-hour wrestling show is a lot for wrestling fans to watch. The NXT idea brings more awareness to another brand, and you still keep those five hours of weekly content” (Source: SI.com).

Taz explained his scenario in a bit more detail:

““Stephanie and Shane have a kind of sibling rivalry, so Stephanie will run Smackdown and Shane will run Raw. Stephanie will ask, ‘Why do you get three hours on your brand and I only get two on mine?’ Then Vince can come out and settle the argument between his kids by making it plain and simple–‘Raw and Smackdown will both be two hours.’ When someone asks what happens to that third hour, then boom–you play Triple H’s music and you give NXT to Triple H” (Source: SI.com).

Some interesting comments. I actually wouldn’t mind this but I am of the opinion they should leave NXT how it is. I think they have something really special on Wednesday nights and I wouldn’t mess with it too much. I do agree that both RAW and Smackdown should be 2 hour shows though so they can remain as equals. You can catch Taz Monday to Friday on The Taz Show.
