Here are some WWE Superstars who I don’t think should win the Royal Rumble match this year. I tried to only include Superstars who I think have a realistic chance to win.
5) Brock Lesnar
Let’s start with Brock Lesnar, who will be entering the men’s Royal Rumble match as the first entrant. This has definitely made things really intriguing and I am excited to see what happens with Brock in the match so early.
While saying that, I don’t think that Brock should win. That would mean Brock would have to last about an hour in the match and the entire thing would be focused on him.
I am a Brock fan but I don’t think that we need to build the entire Rumble match around Brock. He is already an established star and I would prefer for WWE to use the Rumble match to build up other members of the roster. Plus, there is a great opportunity for someone to get the massive rub of throwing Brock over the top rope. If Brock wins it, that moment never happens.
Brock winning the Rumble would set up a Title vs Title match against The Fiend at Wrestlemania 36. WWE has done a great job at keeping the brands separate since the draft and I don’t think we need to see them mixed together like this already. I am hoping that Brock doesn’t run the table and win the men’s Rumble match.
4) Alexa Bliss
A top candidate to win the Women’s Royal Rumble match is Alexa Bliss, who returned from injury a few weeks ago. Alexa has accomplished a lot in her career already and a Royal Rumble victory seems inevitable for her at some point.
I am hoping that Alexa does not win the Women’s Royal Rumble match this year. Nothing against her but it would set us up for a Smackdown Women’s Title match between Alexa Bliss and Bayley at Wrestlemania 36. This is a feud that has been done a bunch already and I have no interest in WWE revisiting the feud.
We all remember the ‘Bayley, This Is Your Life’ segment. I am still not over how bad it was. I love both of them but I don’t want to see them feud anytime soon. As a result, Alexa is someone who I feel like shouldn’t win the Rumble match this year.
