Dean Ambrose was injured last week on Monday Night RAW at the hands of Samoa Joe. It was revealed that Dean was legitimately injured and had surgery to repair it last week.
On RAW this week, WWE announced that Dean will be out of action for 9 months. This is much longer than what fans were expecting. So what is going on? Let’s speculate.
It is possible that WWE is exaggerating the time that Dean will be out of action for. The reason that they would do this is to set-up Dean’s return to be a major surprise after only a few months. Why do we think this?
- WWE already announced that it was only a partial tear and the surgery was very straightforward. I am not a doctor but while looking up recovery time for a partial triceps tear, it is nowhere near 9 months. Most estimates are a few months.
- A report last week suggested that the hope in WWE is that Ambrose could be back within 3 months.
- WWE has exaggerated injury timetables in the past. Remember when Braun Strowman was supposed to be out for several months and he returned in less than 2? Could be something similar here.
Many fans have been speculating that WWE might be lying about this one:
It’s fake because the injury itself takes 4-6 months but Dean has started physical therapy in slow motion movements which 2-3 months for his surprise return wrestlemania

If I were to guess, I would say Dean returns before Wrestlemania 34. What do you guys think? Let’s hope for the best.
