On Monday Night RAW this week, it was confirmed that John Cena and Kurt Angle will be participating in the WWE World Cup. This will be an 8-person tournament that will take place at the WWE Crown Jewel event in Saudi Arabia. So who will be the remaining 6 participants? Let’s speculate here.
Let’s start with the qualifying matches.
Two qualifying matches have been confirmed for Smackdown this week to determine two spots in the tournament. Those matches are Big Show vs Randy Orton and Samoa Joe vs Jeff Hardy. My guess is that it will be Orton and Joe winning their respective matches to earn a spot.
What about the remaining 4?
Since everyone mentioned prior is American, we are going to need some International stars to fill out the rest of the tournament. I think a safe pick is Finn Balor. He is doing nothing on RAW right now and would be a great choice to represent Ireland.
I am also going to go with Andrade Almas. Vince McMahon is rumored to be extremely high on him and he seems like a great choice to represent Mexico.
Shinsuke Nakamura could fit in here to represent Japan. This would be if he isn’t defending his WWE United States Championship at the event.
My final pick is going to be Kevin Owens representing Canada. No real reason behind it but I think Owens could be fun in this format.
That would mean it would be John Cena (USA), Kurt Angle (USA), Finn Balor (IRELAND), Andrade Almas (MEXICO), Shinsuke Nakamura (JAPAN), Samoa Joe (USA), Randy Orton (USA), and Kevin Owens (CANADA). Do you agree or disagree with me? Let me know in the comment section below.
On a related note, here are 24 countries that could technically be represented in this World Cup if WWE wanted.
