Speculation On The Plans For The WWE Championship Match At The Royal Rumble

Daniel Bryan successfully defended the WWE Championship at the TLC PPV event on Sunday night. Bryan was able to roll-up AJ Styles for the victory.

Now that TLC is over, we need to start looking towards the Royal Rumble PPV in January. A big question now is, who will Daniel Bryan defend his WWE Championship against at the event?

We wanted to pass along our thoughts on what will happen.

My gut says that we are going to get Mustafa Ali vs Daniel Bryan at the Rumble for the WWE Championship. This comes after Ali picked up the pinfall victory over Bryan on Smackdown.

Ali vs Bryan for the Title might sound a bit crazy but I think that it makes sense. It fits the narrative that WWE is changing things and will be giving fans what they want. I can’t think of too many hardcore fans that would complain about Ali vs Bryan.

This would also allow AJ Styles to enter the Royal Rumble match instead of facing Bryan again. Styles has only entered one Rumble in his career and I would like to see him involved.

I don’t think that Ali is going to win the belt but it could make for a fun PPV match.

How would you feel about Bryan vs Ali happening? Let us know in the comment section below.

On a related note, here are our predictions for the rest of the match card at the Royal Rumble.

  1. I wouldn’t mind that but I was thinking that the championship bout should be on SmackDown since Ali is just starting out as a SmackDown Superstar. I feel Bryan should defend his title at the Rumble against either Rey Mysterio or Jeff Hardy but since they’re respectively feuding with Randy Orton and Samoa Joe, I’m not sure either of them will challenge Bryan.
