Speculation On The Plans For Asuka At The Elimination Chamber

Asuka currently doesn’t have a match scheduled for the Elimination Chamber PPV. She doesn’t even have a feud right now as she hasn’t appeared on Smackdown for the past few weeks.

I wanted to pass along my own speculation on the plans for Asuka.

To start, I do think that Asuka will have a match at the Elimination Chamber. It would seem odd not to feature her in some way on this card, especially since she doesn’t have a match scheduled for Wrestlemania 35 yet.

A big issue for Asuka is that most of the Smackdown Women’s roster is tied up at the Chamber. Several Superstars from Smackdown will be participating in the Women’s Elimination Chamber match. Plus, Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair are off doing their own thing and it doesn’t look like they will be involved with Asuka.

That leaves her with a few potential options.

  1. Asuka faces Lana at the event. She is pretty much the only one left from the regular Smackdown roster. WWE recently granted R-Truth a U.S Title shot because of him losing his spot in the Royal Rumble match. Maybe WWE does the same for Lana since she lost her spot in the Women’s Rumble match.
  2. WWE has Asuka face one of the new NXT Call-Ups (Nikki Cross or Lacey Evans). Both haven’t been officially assigned to a brand yet.
  3. Asuka is off the card completely at the Chamber.

My gut says that WWE is going to give us Asuka vs Lacey Evans at the Chamber. This would be a nice showcase for Lacey on the main roster as we haven’t gotten to see much from her yet. This would also save Nikki Cross vs Asuka for a match with more build. I think that is going to be a money feud and I wouldn’t waste it here with such a short build.

How would you feel about Lacey vs Asuka at the Chamber? Let me know in the comment section below.
