AJ Styles successfully retained the WWE Championship against both Samoa Joe and Daniel Bryan over the past week. His next match will be against Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series in a Champion vs Champion match.
So what about Styles’ next feud for the WWE Championship? Let’s speculate a little bit.
With Daniel Bryan and Samoa Joe both losing clean to Styles, I think a fair guess is that they will both be out of the Title picture for the time being. That means, we need a fresh feud for AJ and the WWE Championship.
My early guess is that Styles is about to embark on a feud with the Miz over the next few months. After the Miz made it to the finals of the WWE World Cup, he has a strong case for the next Title shot. My guess is that Shane McMahon gives him a Title match in exchange for replacing him in the World Cup tournament. A feud between Styles and Miz could end up being a lot of fun and I think WWE will pull the trigger.
I am on the side who thinks that the Miz will be the one to take the WWE Championship off Styles. My guess is that WWE has them face off for the Title at TLC. That one will end in a screwy finish where the Title doesn’t change hands but sets up a rematch. The Miz eventually wins the Title at the Royal Rumble. Styles will pass CM Punk for 6th on the list of longest WWE Title reigns of all time if he holds it until the Rumble. As a result, I think WWE will hold off on a Title change until he passes Punk.
