Speculation On The Long-Term Plans For The Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa Feud

Johnny Gargano will challenge Tommaso Ciampa for his NXT Championship at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn 4. This will be a Last Man Standing match. This was originally supposed to be a triple threat match with Aleister Black involved, but an injury has forced Black out of the event.

So what will happen in the match between Gargano and Ciampa in Brooklyn? Also, what are the long-term plans for this feud? Let’s speculate a little bit here.

My guess is that the injury to Black has now forced WWE to fast-track Gargano vs Ciampa for the NXT Championship. Gargano vs Ciampa was probably the planned main event for the next Takeover in November.

With that in mind, I really don’t think this match will be the final chapter in the rivalry between Gargano and Ciampa. I actually think that the Last Man Standing match is going to end in a draw, with both of them being unable to answer the 10-count. Triple H is familiar with this finish as his Last Man Standing match against Shawn Michaels ended in a draw at the 2004 Royal Rumble.

Aleister Black is rumored to return around October, which means he would be good to go for the next Takeover in November. My guess is that we get Ciampa vs Black vs Gargano for the Title as the main event. Following that, Black gets called up to the main roster and we get a final Gargano vs Ciampa match at Takeover on Royal Rumble weekend. Something like Hell in a Cell or 3 Stages of Hell as a stipulation to close the book on their feud.

That’s how I see it going over the next few months. How about you? Let us know in the comment section.
