News broke recently that Erick Rowan of the Bludgeon Brothers had suffered an injury. Rowan tore his right bicep at Summerslam in the Smackdown Tag Team Championship match. He recently had surgery to fix the issue.
With Rowan now out for several months, where does that leave Luke Harper? Let’s speculate a little bit.
The obvious (and least exciting) answer would be that WWE does nothing with Harper over the next several months. He only works live events and gets paired back up with Rowan after he has recovered.
The ideal option (for me at least) would be to give Harper another singles run on Smackdown Live. A major reason why is Smackdown’s current lack of babyfaces. The lack of babyfaces is so bad on the brand that Shinsuke Nakamura has no one to feud with for his United States Championship. I would say that a Harper singles run and babyface turn could be a viable solution here. Harper vs Nakamura could be a solid feud over the next few months.
There is just something about Harper that fans want to cheer for. He briefly caught fire during his singles run back in 2017 and I thought that it was a lot of fun. I don’t know about anybody else but I would like to see him get another chance on his own to see what he can do. The Smackdown Tag Team division is loaded with solid teams anyways, so I am not sure if the Bludgeon Brothers would be too missed. That might just be me though.
My hope is that WWE gives Harper another chance as a singles guy. I really think that he could thrive if given another chance. Do you agree or disagree with me? Let me know in the comment section below.
