AJ Styles successfully defended his WWE Championship against Rusev at Extreme Rules. Styles also defeated Andrade Almas on this week’s episode of Smackdown Live in a non-title match. It was announced by WWE that Paige will be announcing AJ Styles’ opponent for Summerslam on next week’s episode of Smackdown Live.
So, who will Styles face? Let’s speculate a little bit.
I think the most obvious scenario is Styles defending his WWE Championship against Samoa Joe. There have been some graphics making the rounds that are advertising Joe vs Styles at both Summerslam and Hell in a Cell.

Even taking those graphics out of the equation, I still think Styles vs Joe makes sense. Joe seems to be the best possible challenger right now and he isn’t involved in a major feud.
If it isn’t Joe, the only person I can really think of is John Cena to try and beat the Title record of Ric Flair. That seems like a longshot though.
