News officially broke at midnight that All Elite Wrestling [AEW] will be happening. This was rumored for the past month or two but it was made official during the latest episode of ‘Being The Elite’.
We have some more details to pass your way about the new promotion. This comes via Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscribe here).
Multiple wrestlers are apparently signed already to the promotion, including Cody Rhodes. The Young Bucks are not officially signed just yet but they will be soon. More wrestlers will be revealed over the next few days.
There is no TV deal just yet. They have “multiple offers” according to Meltzer. The ‘All-In’ event impressed a lot of TV executives.
There is no indication that the promotion will have a relationship with New Japan Pro Wrestling. This is still up in the air.
AEW’s first show, Double Or Nothing, is expected to happen in the Spring of 2019 according to PWInsider. There will be a free rally on January 8th for the promotion in Jacksonville. The Young Bucks, Cody Rhodes, Brandi Rhodes, Adam Page, SCU, Christopher Daniels, Frankie Kazarian, and Scorpio Sky are being advertised.
As noted prior, the promotion will be owned by Tony Khan (who is the co-owner of the Jacksonville Jaguars). PWInsider says that the plan is for this to be a major financial investment by Khan, making things really interesting in the world of pro-wrestling.
