The first ever Women’s Money in the Bank ladder match ended in controversy! After it looked like Becky Lynch was about to climb the ladder to win the briefcase, she was knocked off by James Ellsworth. Ellsworth proceeded to unhook the briefcase and toss it to Carmella, giving her the win.
Many fans were pissed that a man won the first ever Women’s Money in the Bank ladder match.
Smackdown Live Commissioner: Shane McMahon and General Manager Daniel Bryan commented on the controversial finish:
This is not what I had envisioned for the FIRST EVER Women’s #MITB match. @realellsworth and @CarmellaWWE just robbed the #WWE Universe.

Absolutely unacceptable and cheap. The circumstances surrounding the Women’s #MITB match will be the FIRST thing addressed on #SDLive.
