Santino Marella was apparently shocked by his WWE release.
If you have been living under a rock, the WWE released 8 stars last Friday for their annual spring roster cleaning. One of the stars that was released was Santino Marella. A lot of fans were actually surprised he was still on the WWE’s payroll considering he rarely is on WWE TV anymore. The last time we saw him was on December 21st 2015 when he presented a Slammy Award.

Santino Marella was apparently shocked by his WWE release. During his appearance on Another Wrestling Podcast (clip above), Marella said he was in talks with the WWE for some sort of non-physical role on TV such as a manager or a GM. He says that they must have changed their minds.
I think Santino would have been entertaining as a manager for someone in a comedy role. Other than that I can’t see him being too shocked considering he only shows up a couple times a year.
