Samoa Joe made headlines in the WWE when he won the NXT Championship at a live event a couple days ago from Finn Balor. Joe Made his NXT debut on May 20, 2015 at NXT Takeover: Unstoppable and has been a force ever since. Many fans feel like he is ready for a call-up to the main roster soon considering that he has been wrestling at a high-level for over 15 years now. The man who makes that final call is WWE Chairman, Vince McMahon. Samoa Joe in a recent interview on the Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast, recalls meeting Vince for the first time and compares him to a poker player.
Samoa Joe on meeting Vince McMahon for the first time:
“Vince is the ultimate poker player and you’ll never know [what he thinks of your character]. Oh no, it was ‘very nice to meet you’ and then it’s like this coy smile where he’s like, ‘very nice to meet you’, but on the other side it’s like, ‘pfft, you ain’t s–t’. I couldn’t tell, man. I’ve been at the table with some really great poker players. I’m sure Vince McMahon is a hell of a poker player” (Source: Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast, H/T WrestlingInc).
IWNerd Perspective: I feel like meeting Vince McMahon would be a very intimidating experience for the first time. Considering who he is and how much power he has concerning your career, you would need to make an amazing first impression. I am thinking that Vince McMahon does’t show too much emotion on the first meeting and Joe’s experience was very normal.
