1) WWE’s Plans For Goldberg
According to a report from Inside The Ropes, there was a reason for Goldberg appearing (virtually) on the latest episode of Smackdown. The site says that WWE was trying to give Smackdown a boost in the ratings. They were also planting some seeds for Goldberg to potentially get involved with Roman Reigns or Braun Strowman in the future.
Here is what the site wrote about Goldberg:
WWE sources have told Inside the Ropes that Goldberg’s return on Friday was designed to give SmackDown a boost in the ratings for its premiere episode and with the view to putting some wheels in motion for Royal Rumble/WrestleMania season.
That would suggest that Goldberg is going to factor in to the futures of Reigns or Strowman and many people will no doubt hope it’s not the former unless it’s a squash job for The Tribal Chief.
The site says that WWE would have used Goldberg at the Saudi Arabia show if it didn’t get canceled. Vince McMahon also doesn’t care about what people think of him still using Goldberg on television:
We’re also told “Vince McMahon couldn’t care less what anyone thinks about him using Goldberg” and the head honcho still believes there is value in the Goldberg name. One might argue that lessens every time the 53-year-old performs, but McMahon appears locked in to use Goldberg for a few years yet.
My Take:
- I could definitely see WWE doing with Goldberg vs Roman Reigns or Goldberg vs Braun Strowman. If I am being honest though, I don’t have an interest in either match. Goldberg just doesn’t do it for me anymore.
