Rumor Roundup: WWE’s Plans For AJ Styles, Backstage Notes On WWE Day 1, More

3) Backstage Note On WWE’s COVID-19 Testing

According to Sean Ross Sapp on Fightful Select (subscribe here), WWE has informed talent that they are no longer required to test for COVID-19.

Here is what Sapp wrote:

Several top WWE stars are sidelined from this week’s shows with COVID infections, but WWE is taking measures the opposite way within NXT. Performance Center talent was informed this past weekend that they’re no longer requiring the twice-weekly COVID testing that had previously been mandatory.

My Take:

  • This seems like it could become problematic. Maybe this is what led to WWE’s recent issues.

2) Backstage Note On RAW

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, Bruce Prichard is dealing with a health issue and missed this week’s episode of RAW. Vince McMahon, Kevin Dunn, and Michael Hayes were also not backstage at the show.

Here is what Meltzer said:

“No Bruce Prichard. There’s an issue with Bruce Prichard. I’m not exactly clear, I just heard a health issue and he’s been sick. He was sick a couple of weeks ago and he’s missed other shows, I believe. Vince, Kevin Dunn, Michael Hayes wasn’t at the show…I think those were the main people that were not at the show tonight but I think those are precautionary measures.”

My Take:

  • Must have been weird to have an episode without any of the top names backstage.
