3) Former UFC Star Open To Working With WWE
Ben Askren was recently interviewed by Chris Van Vliet. During this, Askren revealed that he was at the WWE Performance Center in October. He also left the door open to work with WWE in the future. Askren is best known for his time in the UFC.
Here is what he said:
“I went down there in October. It was fun, they were really cool… I left with an open door there. I’m running my Askren Wrestling Academy business so I don’t think it’s something I would do full time but I would be interested in doing a little something with them. I really like them, everyone there was really cool and they run a really professional operation down there, it was awesome.”
My Take:
- I would give him a chance. We will have to wait and see if he beats Jake Paul in their boxing match though.
2) Popular Features Coming To Peacock By The Summer
According to Dave Meltzer of F4Wonline, Peacock is expected to make changes to their platform so that some popular features from the WWE Network will be implemented. This includes things like live pause, restart controls, and more.
These changes to Peacock are expected to be made by Summerslam. Here is what Meltzer wrote:
The line in the current issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter about features like rewind/fast forward or the ability to start live programming at the beginning if you log in after the show starts not being available right now, and possibly never being available, is correct about right now, but the part about them possibly never being available is not the case according to sources at Peacock.
The features mentioned are not in play right now, but changes are expected to be made as time goes by.
Those at Peacock say that they anticipate making live pause, restart controls, and scrub bar previews available before SummerSlam.
Regarding search, entity-based discovery is on the product roadmap, and they are anticipating offering searching by the name of the performer by September.
My Take:
- Sounds like a lot of fans are going to be pissed off for a few months. I am in Canada, so this change won’t affect me, for now at least.
