Rumor Roundup: WWE’s Expansion Plans In Japan, Why Banned Move Is Now Allowed In WWE, More

1) WWE’s Expansion Plans In Japan

It appears as if WWE has some big expansion plans for Japan. According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE is currently in talks about a potential partnership with All Japan Pro-Wrestling, which has been around since 1972.

Also, the legendary Japanese star, Jun Akiyama, will be guest coaching at the WWE Performance Center this week. Jun is the current owner of All Japan Pro Wrestling.

Meltzer says that the goal is for WWE to launch ‘NXT Japan’ by the end of the year. Before that, there are plans to open a WWE Performance Center in Japan.

Tokyo Sports is also reporting that WWE could eventually merge with All Japan Pro-Wrestling.

My Take:

  • It will be pretty wild if All Japan becomes NXT Japan. It is such a legendary promotion that I think it will piss some people off. Great for WWE though if they can get a deal done as there is a ton of talent.
