1) WWE’s Condition To Grant The Revival Their Releases
According to Sean Ross Sapp on Fightful Select (subscribe here), WWE had a condition if The Revival wanted out of their contracts.
Sapp says that WWE wanted The Revival to hand over the trademarks that they filed with their own money. If they agreed to that, they would be let out of their WWE contracts. Here is what Sapp wrote:
“WWE gave The Revival an out if the duo signed over a number of trademarks that Wheeler and Harwood spent their own money to acquire. The release was finalized shortly before the announcement was made publicly, but both sides had actually been working on it for quite a while.”
It is worth noting that WWE recently started the process to oppose three trademarks that are owned by the team. Those trademarks are:
- “Say Yeah”
- “No Flips, Just Fists”
- “#FTRKO”
My Take:
- I am definitely excited to hear shoot interviews from The Revival about what happened between them and WWE. There seems to be a lot of layers to this story that comes out each week. From the terrible comedy gimmicks they were pitched to giving up trademarks. It has been a wild ride.
