Rumor Roundup: WWE Delaying Two Title Matches, Legends Returning For The Royal Rumble? More

1) Two Matches Being Held Off Until The Royal Rumble

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE decided to hold off on two title matches until the Royal Rumble.

The first match is Braun Strowman vs Shinsuke Nakamura for the Intercontinental Title. This match has been delayed since Braun is currently dealing with a minor back injury.

The second match is Lacey Evans vs Bayley for the Smackdown Women’s Title. WWE felt like it was “too early” to put it on the TLC card. Here is what Meltzer said (h/t to Ringside News):

Braun Strowman was not medically cleared so Nakamura vs Strowman is not going to be on the show and Bayley and Lacey Evans after shooting angles for it the decision was made that it was too early so they’re not planning it for probably the Royal Rumble. They wanna hold off for the Royal Rumble which is a long way away for angles that were shot now.”

My Take:

  • I think that WWE made the right calls here. Braun vs Nakamura could be really good, so I would like to see WWE take their time with it. Lacey vs Bayley has been solid so far, so hopefully, WWE can keep the momentum going with the feud as we head into the Royal Rumble.
