Rumor Roundup: WWE Cracking Down On Leaks, Back-Up Plan If Vince McMahon Dies, More

3) Jordan Devlin Has Big Backstage Support

According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Shawn Michaels is a big backstage supporter of the new Cruiserweight Champion, Jordan Devlin.

Meltzer also says that the plan is for Devlin to defend his belt across all brands in WWE:

What we do know is that Shawn Michaels is a huge proponent of Devlin and the idea is for him to defend the title across all the brands.

My Take:

  • Devlin is a really talented guy so I am happy for him. I can’t wait to see him wrestle some of the top guys on NXT over the next few months. I am sure that we will see a bunch of fun matches.

2) The Original Plans For The Tiered Version Of The WWE Network

Mike Johnson of PWInsider was asked about the plans for the tiered version of the WWE Network. This comes after WWE recently fired its Co-Presidents, George Barrios and Michelle Wilson.

Johnson says the original plans were for it to be released around the Royal Rumble. Here is what he wrote:

It was. They launched the first version, which was the free tier. The “paid” tier is still in development. They had planned for around Royal Rumble but they never launched. It’s still on the way as far as I know.

My Take:

  • I am interested to see how the firing of Barrios and Wilson effects this. WWE could potentially scrap the idea now that Barrios and Wilson are gone since they looked to be the ones leading the charge for its development.
