1) WWE Potentially Changing Their Stance On Releases
News broke a few days ago that Sin Cara asked for his release from WWE. As of writing this, Sin Cara’s release has not been granted by WWE.
According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE might be changing its stance on granting releases.
Meltzer says that WWE may start granting releases to anybody who they don’t think will go to AEW. Or, they will release Superstars who they don’t think are a threat to help AEW:
Since giving releases to Shawn Spears and Dustin Runnels, both of whom ended having value in AEW, and KENTA, who added value to New Japan, they’ve stopped granting releases. However, it was noted that they may be giving releases to some people with the idea they don’t believe they would be going to AEW, or if they do, wouldn’t help them, and it is possible he will get his release
It will be interesting to see what happens with Sin Cara. If he doesn’t get released, that means WWE is fearful that he will provide AEW with some value.
