Rumor Roundup: WWE Changes Plans For The Royal Rumble, WWE’s New Brand Plans, More

1) WWE Changes Plans For The Royal Rumble

According to Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE scrapped their plans for two matches at the Royal Rumble.

At one point, there was talk of WWE doing both Daniel Bryan vs Roman Reigns and Matt Riddle vs Bobby Lashley at the PPV. They have since scrapped those plans, with Bryan and Lashley declaring for the men’s Royal Rumble match. Here is what Meltzer wrote:

The next WWE PPV show is the Royal Rumble on 1/31, and there’s really no direction clear. At one point Reigns vs. Daniel Bryan and Bobby Lashley vs. Riddle were earmarked for the show, but when it comes to that far ahead, those things have probably changed a half dozen times by now.

It is also rumored that Riddle vs Lashley will take place before the Rumble PPV, likely on an episode of RAW.

My Take:

  • I could see Daniel Bryan vs Roman Reigns being saved for Wrestlemania 37. That would be a solid match for the event. I am also fine with Lashley vs Riddle happening on an episode of RAW.
