3) Why The Co-Presidents Were Fired By WWE
Mike Johnson of PWinsider has provided some additional details on why WWE fired their Co-Presidents, George Barrios and Michelle Wilson.
Here is what Johnson wrote:
we are told that the primary reason they are gone is that McMahon and his Co-Presidents had completely different visions as to how the company could generate revenue, new and existing, going forward and as one staffer joked, “It’s never going to be Vince who loses that argument.”
My Take:
- WWE stock has tanked after this announcement, so I hope Vince knows what he is doing….
2) Superstars Unhappy With WWE Cutting Live Events
We noted recently that WWE is cutting down their live event schedule for the next few months. According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, many WWE stars are unhappy with these cuts.
Here is what he wrote:
There was a good amount of talent who had no idea about the cutback in house shows until they got their February booking sheets and saw how much it was cut down. While the top guys are making a lot of money these days, the rest of the crew will have their income affected by working so many fewer dates. One noted there was a happy medium between four shows a week and TV and maybe two more shows very other week and it’ll affect both pay and for the big stars, will hurt their merch sales significantly so many are unhappy about how this went down.
My Take:
- When I posted the original rumor, I figured that WWE stars would be happy about more time off. This does make sense though as it means they will make a lot less money.
