Rumor Roundup: Why Sasha Banks vs Bayley Isn’t Happening, Plans For The Women’s Tag Titles, More

1) Why Sasha Banks vs Bayley Isn’t Happening At Wrestlemania 36

As noted in our previous rumor roundup, Bayley is currently rumored to defend her Smackdown Women’s Title against 5 other women at Wrestlemania 36. This was first reported by Alex McCarthy of talkSPORT, who says Bayley, Sasha Banks, Lacey Evans, Carmella, and Naomi are 5 of the 6 names who will be taking part.

After this news broke, many fans wondered why WWE isn’t doing Sasha Banks vs Bayley at the event.

McCarthy reports that Sasha Banks vs Bayley was the original plan but WWE changed course after the recent injury to Sasha.

He also added this tidbit about the match not happening:

The source speculates Bayley and Sasha would prefer to hold off their major singles PPV match, too.

Both women have told me before they wouldn’t get the time they need on a Mania’ card, so I can def believe that.

My Take:

  • If it does end up being a 6-pack challenge for the Smackdown Women’s Title, I fear that the match will be cut for time. That seems like one that would be on the chopping block in terms of ring time.
