Rumor Roundup: Why Ronda Is Negative With WWE Fans, UFC Star Wants To Jump To WWE In 2021, More

1) Why Ronda Rousey Is Negative With WWE Fans

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, Ronda Rousey does really feel that WWE fans are ungrateful.

Meltzer referenced fans chanting “you deserve it” at Ronda at Survivor Series 2018 in Los Angeles as an example. This came while she was supposed to be a babyface and was getting attacked by Charlotte Flair. There does appear to be some legitimate resentment from her towards fans from that moment on. Here is what Meltzer said (h/t to WrestlingNews.co for the quotes below):

“It’s not a work. I knew when the Los Angeles fans booed Ronda Rousey and when that Charlotte Flair angle happened. Where Charlotte Flair turned heel on her and they all cheered for Charlotte Flair and they were chanting ‘you deserve it’ when Charlotte beat the hell out of her and she took that beating to get the angle over so the fans would have something believable and the fans changed ‘you deserve it at her.’ I knew that at that point everything changed.”

“You’ve got to remember that her and Shayna, their mentality [when they signed with WWE] was the UFC fans are the worst and the WWE fans are the best and it went good and Ronda comes in and everybody cheered her and she was so popular. It was all going along well until that angle … I knew that was going to strike a chord with her and it did and they turned her heel, which was not the plan. But they went with it and yeah, that ‘s her feelings and that’s just how she is wired. She’s very competitive.”

Meltzer also noted that Ronda isn’t expected to return to WWE anytime soon:

Although everything on Twitter with a number of WWE women would make you think differently, right now Ronda Rousey isn’t returning at this point. I expect some day she will.

My Take:

  • I still would love to see Ronda back. I really want to see Ronda vs Becky Lynch at some point as I think that it could be really good. Fingers crossed for Wrestlemania 37.
