1) Why Goldberg vs Drew McIntyre Is Happening
On the latest episode of RAW, Goldberg showed up and challenged Drew McIntyre to a match at the Royal Rumble. This came after Drew defeated Keith Lee in the main event.
According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, Drew vs Goldberg at the Royal Rumble was not a long-term plan. WWE reportedly made the decision to make this match on Saturday.
WWE management decided over the past few days that there is “nobody ready” to face Drew for the WWE Title at the Royal Rumble. As a result, they felt like Goldberg was the best choice to be his opponent.
Goldberg also apparently has two matches per year on his contract with WWE, which doesn’t expire until 2023.
My Take:
- I am fine with this match happening as long as Drew wins. If Drew loses the belt to Goldberg, it will be a shame.
