1) Why A Big Moment Didn’t Happen At Wrestlemania 37
Heading into Wrestlemania 37, something that fans expected to see was a spot with the pirate ship. This is because the pirate ship plays such a big role at Raymond James Stadium and for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. A lot of fans expected to see someone jump off that pirate ship or use it in their match at some point. Specifically, it looked like Kevin Owens could be the guy who does it, as he expressed his desire in interviews to jump off the ship.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select (subscribe here) has provided some insight into why the ship wasn’t used at Wrestlemania 37.
It was discussed for Kevin Owens to possibly jump off the ship during his match against Sami Zayn. This was scrapped though because their match wasn’t no disqualification and it wouldn’t have made sense:
“There was discussions between talent and creative throughout the week, but the match not being no-DQ proved a big hurdle.”
It was also noted that the weather issues played a role in this spot getting scrapped.
My Take:
- With the weather being crappy on both nights, I am glad they didn’t do it. It would have been super dangerous and I don’t think it would have been worth it.
