Rumor Roundup: Vince McMahon’s Current Backstage Status In WWE, The Plans For John Cena, More

3) Rumor Killer On WWE Changing The Names Of Their Title Belts

There was a rumor a few weeks ago that suggested WWE was considering dropping the “Women’s” from their Title belts. For example, the NXT Women’s Championship would be referred to as simply the “NXT Championship”.

During his media call for Takeover: Portland, Triple H shut down these rumors. He says there were some internal discussions about it but they never made it official and the rumor spread:

“There were conversations that were had, it was basically about not having to beat it into the ground when you say it, but it just got run with. When you have that many people working on a product, and something gets taken the wrong way, everyone in trying to do their job just spreads it. There was never an edict, there was never anything. If you’re showing a graphic you don’t have to say the title belt says women’s, the graphic says women’s, you get it, you don’t have to beat it in the ground. It was more that, it just got run with an speculated on”

My Take:

  • I am happy that they didn’t pull the trigger on the name change as it would have made things very confusing.

2) Female Superstar Moving Back To NXT?

During that same media call, Triple H also spoke about Shayna Baszler coming to RAW to attack Becky Lynch.

Triple H teases that Shayna is still an NXT talent until they make a “deal” for her:

As far as I’m concerned right now, Shayna is still an NXT talent until we make a deal for her to go somewhere else. Does that mean there’s a moment where Becky comes hunting for Shayna or vice versa? I don’t know yet. We’ll see.”

This seems to imply that a RAW Superstar could be traded back to NXT in exchange for Shayna.

My Take:

  • It would be interesting to see a trade happen between RAW and NXT. Charlotte Flair would make sense due to her current storyline but I don’t see WWE keeping her in NXT for the long-term.
