Rumor Roundup: Vince McMahon Sees Big Things In New Superstar, Scrapped Plans For Sarah Logan, More

3) More On Killer Kross’ Name Change

According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, Killer Kross changing his name to ‘Karrion Kross’ was his idea and not WWE’s. Many fans assumed that WWE forced him to change his name because they didn’t want ‘Killer’ in it but Sapp says that wasn’t the case.

Here is what Sapp wrote:

Fightful has also learned that WWE initially seemed open to the idea of using the “Killer Kross” name anyway. In the past, WWE has used the names Killer Kelly, Killer Khan among others, with Kelly actually only leaving the company recently.

My Take:

  • I definitely assumed that WWE made him change the name. Interesting that this was his idea and I actually don’t hate the change.

2) How WWE Superstars Are Paid

In his daily update for F4WOnline, Dave Meltzer provided some insight into the structure of how WWE Superstars are paid.

Here is what Meltzer wrote:

Just to clear something up regarding WWE wrestlers pay–talent when they sign can choose to be paid two different ways

— Biweekly based on Downside Guarantee

–Biweekly based on what they would normally draw between live event pay and merchandise and other royalties.  If that figure at the end of one year is lower than downside, they get the difference made up in a check at the end of the year.

My Take:

  • Interesting that Superstars get to choose how they want to be paid. I am assuming that if you are a bigger name, you choose the option with the merchandise and royalties. If you are a lower card talent, you probably take the downside guarantee every two weeks.
