Rumor Roundup: Update On Keith Lee’s Status, Original Plan For Charlotte At WM 37, More

3) Zelina Vega’s Future After WWE

According to Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Zelina Vega has signed a contract with a wrestling company. This comes after her release from WWE several months ago.

The company is not yet known but Meltzer says that it is NOT AEW:

The obvious choice would be reuniting [Andrade] and Thea Trinidad in AEW, which people have speculated about, but that won’t happen at least right now. Trinidad has signed a deal, we don’t know with who or even that it’s with a wrestling promotion, but the deal she signed would not allow her to work for another wrestling company and it was not with AEW. It was a somewhat short-term thing and the door wasn’t shut on her eventually working with AEW but it won’t be any time imminently.

My Take:

  • My guess would be IMPACT? I am interested to see how she does after leaving WWE. I think that she will excel.

2) Scrapped Title Change Plans

According to Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Keith Lee was supposed to win the U.S Title from Bobby Lashley. This was changed to Matt Riddle after Lee had to miss the Elimination Chamber PPV due to a health issue.

Here is what Meltzer wrote:

Riddle’s winning the U.S. title was not the original plan. The booked idea for the three-way was for Riddle to lose the fall to Lee, as a way to get the belt off Lashley since they were moving him to the WWE title, and get the U.S. title on Lee. But Lee missed the show due to health-related issues and still hasn’t returned

My Take:

  • That sucks for Lee. Riddle has really taken the opportunity and ran with it so far though.
