3) Scrapped Plans At Wrestlemania 37
According to Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Live, Ruby Riott and Liv Morgan were originally planned to win the number one contender’s match at Wrestlemania 37. They were going to face Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax on night two (where they would have lost). WWE ended up changing this to Natalya and Tamina.
Here is what Alvarez said (h/t to Ringside News):
“At night one of WrestleMania they did a match where the winners were going to get a tag title shot on night two. The day of the show Ruby Riott and Liv Morgan were going to win that match and then they were going to go on to night two and lose when they challenge for the titles, but instead they came up with — the day of the show they changed everything — they beat them and then they had Nattie and Tamina win and go on to night two where they lost which leads to a feud where they kept wrestling! Why did they do this? I have no idea!”
My Take:
- I am still surprised that Ruby Riott was released from WWE. I always thought that she had a lot of potential.
2) Backstage Note On The Recent WWE Releases
According to Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men podcast, some of the Superstars that were released on Wednesday had asked the company to let them go.
Here is what Zarian Tweeted:
Some of these names are people who were looking to get released.
WWE has taken a very different approach when it comes to this.
My Take:
- We know that one of these is not Aleister Black as he said he was blindsided by the news. My guess is that it was maybe Buddy Murphy and Santana Garrett who asked out?
